Congress Playing Dirty Politics in Ward Reservations, BJP will Win Udupi CMC – Raghupathi Bhat

Udupi: “The Congress Party has announced ward reservations for the Udupi City Municipal Council in favour of its party but the BJP has suitable candidates to contest the CMC elections. I am sure the BJP will win all the 35 seats in the elections”, said MLA Raghupathi Bhat in a press meet held at the BJP office here on August 3.

Addressing the mediapersons Raghupathi Bhat said, “The recent reservations announced by the government have totally prevented BJP candidates from contesting the elections. As per the reservations, the sitting BJP councillors cannot contest in their present wards as well as the nearby wards. Since the Congress party cannot defeat the BJP, they are playing dirty politics. People of Udupi know whom to vote and have already decided to send the present ruling congress administration back home. Cheap politics of the Congress Party will not work in the ULB elections. The BJP will win in all the 35 wards of the Udupi Municipal Council,” he said.

Raghupathi Bhat further said, “The Congress which has ruled Udupi CMC for the last five years had promised the people of Udupi that they would collect the garbage free of cost from every house. After coming to power the CMC started collecting money from every house including an additional tax for garbage collection. As per the Municipality rules, a tax of more than Rs 500 cannot be charged but the Congress administration is charging Rs 1500 – 2000. The maintenance of street lights has been given to a contractor from Shivamogga and is not being properly done. This year Udupi has received good rainfall but the Udupi CMC has failed to supply water even during the rainy season. The Udupi CMC led by the Congress has failed on all fronts,” he alleged.

Raghupathi also said, “The Congress made tall promises before coming to power during the last CMC elections, but has failed to deliver its promises. The Congress administration is filled with corruption, misconduct and dirty politics. The BJP will expose the failures of the Congress administration during the campaigning for the CMC elections. We are confident that BJP will win with a clear majority in the Udupi CMC,” he challenged.

BJP district president Mattar Rathnakar Hegde, CMC Councilors Dinakar Shetty Herga, Yashpal Suvarna, Mahesh Thakoor, Rashmitha Balakrishna and others were present.
