Congress Releases Handbook on Rafale Scam at DCC
Mangaluru: The District Congress released the handbook on Rafale scam and also the handbills containing 28 questions to the BJP, at the District Congress office, Mallikatta here on March 16.
The Vice President of KPCC V R Sudarshan released the handbook on Rafale scam and also the handbills containing 28 questions to BJP along with other Congress leaders.
Addressing the mediapersons V R Sudarshan said, “The date for the Lok Sabha elections have been announced and it is our duty to bring the failures of the BJP government led by Narendra Modi fooling the people in the name of development to the notice of the people. The earlier elections were held based on stability and instability. In 2014, the BJP assured to bring changes in the country and came to power. We need to have a comparative study on the opposition on what they had promised in 2014 and how many of the promises they have fulfilled. The Modi government should answer what they have done in 5 years, what assurances they had given and why they failed to fulfill them”.
Sudarshan further said, “When the safety and security of the country in danger we should not play politics. The Congress party does not need a certificate from anyone. The BJP wanted to divert the attention of the people of the country because they have failed to fulfill the promises made during the 2014 elections and politicized the airstrike issue. They always speak about the Ram Mandir but from 27 years why did they not construct the Mandir. Only during the elections, they start to talk about constructing the Rama Mandir and fool the people. GST is the brainchild of the UPA government led by the then PM Manmohan Singh. When Narendra Modi was the CM of Gujarat and the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh wanted to implement the GST, Narendra Modi and the BJP opposed it. But when the BJP came to power Modi implemented the GST. If the UPA government under Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had implemented the GST it would have been successful. Narendra Modi with little knowledge implemented the GST with a lot of flaws. Now, Modi says that Congress does not support the GST. Even when we implemented the Aadhar card, BJP criticized it and said that when the BJP comes to power they will cancel the Aadhar card. But now they have understood the importance of the Aadhar card. Earlier for political gain they had said that they would cancel it. The BJP now says that the Aadhar card is their achievement. Narendra Modi had assured of creating 2 crore jobs every year but he has not kept his word. The farmers are in trouble and the youth are jobless. The Modi government is centralized, investors do not trust this government. Creating 2 crore jobs is a big lie”.
Sudarshan also said, “The Narendra Modi led government neglected HAL and believed in the private company Reliance for the Rafale deal. You don’t trust a government-run company but trust a private company. We are not against the Rafale fighter planes but we are against the Rs 30,000 crore scam in the Rafale deal. We need transparency in the purchase of Rafale fighter planes. People have common sense in abundance and no one can fool them. We demanded a joint select committee to be formed in the parliament and the Rafale deal should be investigated. When someone speaks about the failures of the BJP they are called traitors and those who support the failures of the BJP are patriots.”
Sudarshan also questioned the contribution of BJP towards democracy. For the first time in the history of our country, independence of the Judiciary was snatched and four of the judges had called for a press meet to inform the people that democracy was in danger. When the UPA government was in power, they did not have the majority but now since they have the majority why have women not been given their rights, the 33% reservation? The BJP is an anti-women party. If the 33% reservation bill was passed, today women would have contested the Lok Sabha elections. Modi is the prime minister for the country, and not of any particular state. Non-BJP ruled states, especially Karnataka receives step-motherly treatment.
Sudarshan urged the district Congress leaders and party workers to visit every house and distribute the handbook on Rafale scam and the handbill which contains 28 questions posed to the BJP. The party workers should work hard for the victory of the Congress party in all the 20 constituencies”.
Addressing the mediapersons MLC Ivan D’Souza said, “We have printed 5000 handbooks on the Rafale scam and we will distribute the same to the people of the district during our election campaign. We will work hard to defeat Modi and bring the Congress party to power in the Lok Sabha elections.”
Former MLAs J R Lobo and Shakuntala Shetty, District Congress President Harish Kumar, MLC Ivan D’Souza, Ibrahim Kodijal and others were also present.
