Congress Submits Memorandum against BJP members for Obstruction of Electoral Process
Mangaluru: The President and the members of Mangaluru South Block Congress Committee submitted a memorandum on January 24, to the Deputy Commissioner, Police commissioner and the Cheif Election officer for action against the BJP members for clicking photographs and video recording of the voter ID applications at the election registration office at Lalbagh on January 22 and circulating them on the social media.
In the memorandum, it is mentioned that, On January 22, BJP members along with the leaders entered the electoral registration office and obstructed the officials from during their duty. MCC Council member Premanand Shetty along with Badrinath Kamath and others entered the electoral registration office and used abusive language while speaking to the officer on duty. They also snatched the applications from the officers, clicked photographs and video recorded the incident.
On the same day, BJP leaders called a press meet in the BJP office, near PVS circle and alleged that the MLA of Mangaluru South Constituency is involved in creating fake voter IDs. The BJP has gone against the rules and regulations of the election commission. According to the law, if anyone wants any information from the government offices, one should apply through the RTI. But entering the government offices forcibly and clicking photographs of the applications and video recording them is a crime. The video shows that the BJP workers had entered the electoral office forcibly, taken the applications and clicked photographs of the same. They also circulated those photographs and video on the social media which is against the rules and regulations of the electoral commission.
The applications of students who had applied for the voter ID were circulated in the social media WhatsApp, Facebook etc mentioning that the students had committed the mistake which is against the law. The BJP leaders have defamed the name of the institutions the students study, by forwarding the photographs of the applications along with the photographs of the students. Those who had recorded the video and clicked the photographs of the applications should be punished, the memorandum stated.
President of Mangaluru South Block Congress Committee Abdul Saleem, Vishwas Kumar Das, A C Vinayraj, Appi, Praveenchandra Alva, Abdul Lathif, Prakash Salian, T K Sudheer, Prabhakar Shreyan, Sadashiva Amin, Arif Bava, Durgaprasad, Nirajpal, Bharathesh Ameen, Yusuf Uchil, Namtha D Rao, Asif, Hemanth Garodi and Ashraf Bajal were also present.
