Congress to hold Jan Sampark Abhiyan to Collect Funds for Party from Oct 2 – P C Vishnunath

Udupi: P C Vishnunath, the All India Congress committee secretary on Monday evening said that the Karnataka Congress will be organizing the Jan Sampark Abhiyan, to collect donations for the party from October 2 to November 19.

He was speaking after participating in the district level Congress party leaders meet at the Congress Bhavan on September 24 evening. Vishnunath said, “This was decided during the KPPCC office bearers meeting which was held on Sunday. Out of the money collected, 50 percent will go to AICC, 25 percent to KPCC, 15 percent to DCC and 10 percent to the Block committees. The party will conduct door-to-door Sampark Abhiyan and the fund collection programme from October 2 to November 19. The Congress workers will be joined by the booth presidents and leaders in that booth who will go from door-to-door to distribute campaign material and request people for funds.”

“Each booth ‘Sahayogi’ (worker), 10 in each booth, is expected to establish a personal connection with 20-25 households in their vicinity, the communique stated. Every booth cadre will also be given a receipt booklet that will have donation receipts for Rs 100, Rs 500 and Rs 1000,” he said.

The grand old party also intends to run a special programme called ‘Shakti’, said Vishnunath.

“It aims to put a special focus on people in the age group of 18 and 21. The party will also collect relevant data about each voter and donor, which can be synergized with the ‘Shakti’ programme,” he added.

“The ‘Shakti’ programme is aimed to maintain a constant connection between the party and the people. This programme will be taken up in an aggressive manner,” said Vishnunath.

District Congress president Janardhan Tonse presided over the meeting. Former Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, Former MLA Gopal Bhandary, KPCC Secretaries Mamatha Gatti, G A Bava, Naveen D’Souza Congress leader Yathish Karkera, Harish Kini, Geetha Wagle, Sarala Kanchan and others were present.
