Congress United People in 60 years and BJP divided in 6 years – Mithun During Protest against CAB and NRC

Mangaluru: “The BJP government has implemented the NRC and CAB by targetting a particular community. Those who are illegally residing in the country except Muslims will be given citizenship. The National Registration of Citizenship says that those who have illegally entered the country should submit their documents that they are Indians. Your voter ID or ration card will not work, if you don’t provide the documents you will be sent to refugee camps. BJP is asking about what the Congress did in 60 years, I would like to tell that in 60 years the Congress has united the people and the BJP has divided the people in 6 years”, said District Youth Congress President Mithun Rai addressing the protesters at the protest meet staged by the Congress against the NRC and CAB in front of the DC office here on December 17.

Addressing the protesters Mithun said, “When the NRC and CAB will be implemented together it will be dangerous. If Muslims don’t have documents they will be considered as refugees and should leave the country. The entire country is now protesting against the bill. Recently there was a flood in our district and many people lost their documents, if Guru has lost his documents he will be considered as Indian but if Abbas Saheb has lost his documents and will not be able to submit them, he will be sent to the refugee camp. The BJP is trying to divide communities. During the elections, BJP took all the people together saying that we all are one, but after the elections, they want only one community and this is the agenda of BJP. We feel sad when they point fingers at the Congress and ask what the Congress has done in 60 years. But the sad reality is that the BJP is dividing the people in the name of religion. When MP Nalin Kumar Kateel become the President of State BJP and our Muslim community felicitated him. Nalin Kumar Kateel accepted the felicitation. Now let Nalin stand with the Muslim community to give them justice. Yesterday Yaspal Suvarna submitted a memorandum stating that students should not be allowed to stage protest against the NRC or CAB. In this country according to our constitution, every citizen has the right to protest and I request the police department not to snatch the rights of the citizens to protest. The BJP government has disconnected the internet so that the media cannot broadcast news. The Congres party is with the people to fight against the double standards of the BJP. Until the NRC and CAB will not be abolished we will continue our protest.”

Mithun Rai further said, “In Jamia Millia Islamia University, the ABVP state General Secretary entered the university wearing a bulletproof jacket and a helmet and attacked the students. We need to stop the attack on students. Our GDP is decreasing and many have lost their jobs. Many youths have committed suicide because of unemployment. Many are getting addicted to drugs and involved in the theft. We need to fight against the double standards of Narendra Modi and Amit Shah. We all should take a delegation to Delhi along with MP Nalin Kumar Kateel to withdraw the Bill. “

MLC Ivan D’Souza addressing the protesters said, “The BJP leaders say that we all should live in unity. 80% of the elected representatives of BJP are aware that NRC and CAB is to divide the people in this country. BJP wants the people in the country to fight among themselves. Every citizen of this country is aware of this but the BJP leaders say that Congress is creating animosity among the citizens. After NDA came to power how many illegal immigrants from Bangladesh, Nepal or other countries have been sent back? In 10 years of UPA government, we had identified 80,000 illegal immigrants and sent them back. In 6 years the BJP has sent back only 4000 illegal immigrants. We don’t support the illegal immigrants or ask the government to keep them in our country. But we request the Prime minister and home minister not to divide the country in the name of religion. Amit Shah and Modi are the Champions in the Godhra issue and now they are trying to make another Godhra. In Gujrat when Modi was the CM, Amit Shah was the HM and now both are the PM and HM of the country. We are not fools, the intellectuals, students and the educated people are fighting against the NRC and CAB. This is a burning issue but the Prime minister nor the home minister is bothered about it. They just don’t care about the people. Amit Shah says it’s none of our business, we have implemented the bill.

Ivan D’Souza further said, “The police don’t give permission to hold protest, if anyone stages a protest, the police will take action. I want to tell the police, “You are not the dictators. Police don’t have any right to stop us from protesting. Where is the law to stop the people from protesting?” The United Nations has said that India is not safe. The Japanese Prime minister cancelled his visit to India because of the law and order situation in our country. Even the American President tells his citizens not to visit India. Russia also says that women are not safe in India, don’t visit there. If there are untoward incidents taking place in our country it is because of Modi and Shah. The law in the country is weak, the Supreme court nowadays is open on Saturdays and Sundays because it is controlled by the Prime minister and elected leaders. We should continue our fight and protect our country. Amit Shah and Narendra Modi are trying to divide the country, we need to protect our country from them, let us join hands to fight against the NRC and CAB”.
