Coronavirus: UAE announces 85 new COVID-19 cases

Abu Dhabi: UAE has announced 85 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of coronavirus infections in the country to 333, with 7 more recoveries on Wednesday, March 25.

The announcement was made during a regular media briefing held by Dr. Farida Al Hosani, official spokesperson of the UAE health sector.

Seven people were declared recovered on Wednesday, bringing the total number of recovered cases in the UAE to 52.

Al Hosani elaborated on the precautionary measures taken to prevent the spread of the virus in the country.

During a Wednesday briefing, Dr. Hosani said:

• Most of the infected age groups are between 20 to 44 years old
• People are urged to stay home and not to go out, except for necessities
• We may need some time to reach tangible results and decline in the number of infected cases
She also urged the public to wait for government-approved testing methods and not resort to any tests advertised commercially.

“PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test is the most common test being used globally. We have some other quicker testing methods which are still under trial,” according to a translation of her statement.

“For sanitisers, we ask the public to check ingredients and that it should have at least mroe than 60 per cent alcohol to be effective,” she added.
