Country being Divided by Caste and Communal Politics – Prakash Rai
Udupi: “Our country is being divided by caste and communal politics, which needs to be stopped immediately. “People should find peace through religion and not hatred by it” said Multi lingual actor and activist Prakash Rai. He was speaking after inaugurating the “Save constitution” campaign organized by Dalit associations and likeminded people of Udupi at the Bhujanga Park, here on Tuesday, April 24.
“People’s representatives are ignoring all these issues and are instead involved in dividing the people on the basis of religion. I will voice out against such government, irrespective of political party. ”Today, BJP is dragging religion into politics; it is becoming an authoritarian government in a democratic country and my right to freedom of speech allows me to question these acts.”.
Expressing his displeasure over recent remarks by Amit Shah who equated opposition leaders to snakes and animals, he said: “I can’t leave my country in the hands of leaders who speak vulgar language against any religion, activist, writer and opposition leaders. Amit Shah has lost his sense and it shows his mindset. He should understand that dictatorship doesn’t work here. He should be aware while making statements against anyone, one must respect the opposition parties,” he said.
“When Gauri Lankesh was killed, some people celebrated the murder. Whether I have voted for Modi or not, he is my prime minister. He must speak up against such people. He must pull up his minister for saying that they are here to change the Constitution.
“My prime minister should ask his minister, an elected, mandated minister, not to say that a religion should be wiped out from the earth. That is not Hinduism. If my prime minister does not ask his minister to shut up, then I am asking my prime minister you are also not a Hindu. The person who supports killing, cannot be a Hindu.”
