Court Finds 3 Guilty in Shrimathi Shetty Murder Case, Verdict on Sept 17

Mangaluru: The Additional District and Sessions Court has convicted three individuals in connection with the gruesome murder of 37-year-old Shrimati Shetty in 2019. The victim’s body was found dismembered and scattered across various locations in Mangaluru.
The accused, Jonas Samson alias Jonas Samson, his wife Victoria Mathais, and Taripadi Gudde Raju, were found guilty of murdering Shetty, who ran a chit fund business in Attavar.
According to the prosecution, Jonas Samson had taken membership in Shetty’s chit fund and failed to pay his dues. Shetty had allegedly pressured Samson to repay the amount, which led to the murder. Samson and his wife killed Shetty and then dismembered her body into 29 pieces, scattering them across the city.
Raju, the third accused, was found guilty of receiving stolen jewelry from the couple and providing them shelter.
The case was investigated by Inspector Mahesh M of the Mangaluru East Police Station. The court will pronounce the quantum of sentence on September 17.
Judge Mallikarjun Swamy H S of the Additional District and Sessions Court delivered the verdict, finding the three accused guilty of the heinous crime.
