COVID-19: 300 new coronavirus cases reported in UAE on Wednesday
Abu Dhabi: The UAE reported 300 new cases of coronavirus, on Wednesday, raising the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 2,659. The information was announced by the Ministry of Health and Prevention.
In a press conference held on Wednesday, the ministry’s official spokesperson Dr Farida Al Hosani revealed that 53 infected people have recovered from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries in the country to 239.
Abdul Rahman Al Owais, Minister of Health, said: “The exceptional circumstances experienced by the world proved the strong solidarity and unity of the UAE society.”
A total of 593, 095 tests were conducted across the country until Tuesday, proving the powerful capacity of our health system. He thanked healthcare professionals and workers who are on the frontlines in the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking also at the news briefing Abdullah Al Nuaimi, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation spokesperson, said private sector establishments affected by the Covid-19 are required to implement a number of public health and safety measures.
Surplus workers in UAE’s private sector companies seeking job opportunities can be registered on the Virtual Labor Market, careers.mohre.gov.ae launched by the ministry.
Al Nuaimi said: “The UAE has one of the most resilient and diversified job markets and in order to cope with the new measures taken by #UAEGov for Coronavirus prevention, private sector companies have to adopt new procedures for business continuity and productivity.”
Abdul Rahman Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention, stressed that the UAE is taking all necessary precautions for the prevention of the spread of Coronavirus (Covid-19).
Al Owais said: “The unusual circumstances we are experiencing have revealed a laudable public commitment and cooperation of both UAE nationals and residents to abide by the measures taken to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.”
“Priority is given to performing advanced and extensive testing and screening to identify and isolate cases as early as possible. We have dedicated testing centers across the UAE, using advanced testing kits to detect the Coronavirus,” he added.
To date, the UAE has carried out 539,195 tests. “This number reflects the efficiency of our health system and the commitment and dedication of our frontline health care workers,” Al Owais Said.
Al Owais concluded: “We are thankful and grateful to our heroes; our doctors, nurses, paramedics and our teams on the field. With your efforts and dedication, this time will pass.”
