COVID-19: Case Filed for Misleading Post on WhatsApp concerning District Administration

Mangaluru: The district administration has filed a case against a man for misleading post on WhatsApp on March 29.

On March 28, Melwyn Pinto had posted fake news concerning the administration and created confusion among the people. In his WhatsApp post-Melwyn had mentioned “For those willing to donate essentials,  the district administration has set up a collection center in the Smart City building. The kit should contain Rice, Dal, grains, sunflower oil, masala pack, Sambar masala, pickle, and vegetables”.

According to a press release from the Deputy Commissioner,  a case has been filed against Melwyn Pinto for posting false news on WhatsApp. If anyone spreads rumours or posts fake news concerning the district administration action will be taken against them.

To avoid any confusion DC Sindhu has appointed Nodal officers to monitor the supply of essential items in DK.

Mangaluru City Corporation limits, three nodal officers have been appointed.
