COVID-19 effect: Udupi Krishna Math Applies for Loan to meet Day-to-day Expenses
Udupi: Due to the coronavirus pandemic, many people, including shopkeepers and businessmen, are facing financial problems. Now the world-famous Udupi Sri Krishna Math is also facing a financial crunch to meet the Temple’s daily expenses.
On account of the coronavirus-induced lockdown, the Temple was closed for six months, and the revenue of the Temple was nil. The Paryaya Adamar Math to meet the daily expenses has approached a bank for Rs One Crore loan.
Speaking to Media persons Udupi Paryaya Adamar Math’s Sri Ishapriya, Theertha Swamiji said, “We have decided to borrow loan from the bank and have applied for a loan of Rs 1 Crore. Presently we have received Rs 15 lakhs from the bank. During the lockdown period, we have paid the salary of all the 200 to 300 staff. We have expenses of Rs 1.25 lakh every day”.
Swamiji further said, “Many people have objected from taking a loan from the bank. We have many educational institutions but are not receiving any income from it for our Math’s expenses. If we take a loan, it will increase our responsibility. Presently we have received Rs 15 lakhs, and the bank will release the remaining amount whenever required”.
