COVID-19 Lockdown: Case filed against Man for Obstructing Police on Duty

Mangaluru: A case has been registered against an elderly man for obstructing the police on COVID-19 lockdown duty at Lal Bagh here on April 16 evening.

According to sources, on April 16, evening, an elderly man was going out on his car during the lockdown. The traffic police on duty stopped him and asked where is he going? But the man started to argue and abuse the police using foul language.

When the police asked the man to show the pass, the elderly man who is a chartered accountant said, “What pass do you need? I am going to Shedigudda, I don’t have a pass. This is my car, why are you not allowing me to go?”

The man then tried to remove the barricade placed in front of his car. In this connection, a case has been registered in Urwa police station under section 353, 504 and 269 IPC.

Considering the age and the condition of the elderly man, the police have not seized the car nor arrested the elderly person.

Sir, You are not wrong. Everything has to be handled on a case by case basis, depending on the circumstances and situation. We cannot take a broad brush and paint everything red. I fully agree that we must be gracious enough to admit our mistakes and faults.
