COVID – 19, MCC Begins Vacating Street Food Joints
Mangaluru: The Health department of Mangalore City Corporation started a special drive to vacate all the street food joints as a precautionary measure to stop the spread of Corona Virus within the MCC limits.
On March 14, the Health officer along with the Environment Engineer and staff started the drive to vacate the food joints in Bejai, Mannagudda, Lalbagh, Ladyhill, Urwa Stores, Urwa Market, Kankanady, Kadri, Suratkal and Panambur area.
Officers also inspected the hotels and restaurants for hygiene. The food joints that have mushroomed in and around Mangaluru were vacated by the officers.
“Vacating such food joints that pose a health risk to the people is a right move by the MCC officials”, said Dayanand a resident of Urwa.
Speaking to mangalorean.com one of the MCC officials said, “We have taken all the necessary measures to stop the spread of Corona Virus in the city. Today, March 14 morning, we inspected most of the hotels and restaurants in the city for hygiene. We will continue our drive to vacate all the street food joints which are posing prone to rapidly spread such diseases.”
The drive will also continue on March 15 and all the street food joints will be vacated.
