COVID-19, Private Hospitals should Reserve 50 percent Beds for Govt – Kota Srinivas
Mangaluru: “Private hospitals and the medical colleges should reserve 50% of the beds for the government to treat COVID patients”, said the District Minister In-charge Kota Srinivas Poojary during his visit to the A J Hospital on August 8.
Kota Srinivas Poojary along with MLA Bharat Shetty and Deputy Commissioner Dr K V Rajendra visited A J Hospital and Srinivas Medical college on August 8.
During his visit, Kota Srinivas Poojary said, “The government has given priority to protect the health of the citizens. Coronavirus positive cases in the district are rapidly increasing, and in this regard, private hospitals should co-operate with the government to provide treatment to the Coronavirus infected patients. The state government has decided to provide free treatment to the patients under the Ayushman scheme. The government has also fixed the rates for treatment, and private hospitals should treat the Coronavirus infected patients as per government rates”.
Kota Srinivas also said, “Since the government is supplying Rapid kits for private hospitals, private hospitals should conduct COVID tests for free. Government hospitals have already started COVID tests free of cost. The state government will also supply 50 ventilators to the district”.
The deputy commissioner Dr K V Rajendra said, “Hospitals should place Price list at the entrance explaining the details of COVID treatment, rates, and about admitting the COVID patients under the Ayushman scheme. Every day a minimum of 100 Rapid Antigen tests should be conducted in every medical college free of cost. The Arogya Mitra workers, appointed by the health department in every medical college, should work actively. Action will be taken against those who are negligent”, warned DC.
Zilla Panchayat CEO Dr Selwamani, DHO Dr Ramachandra Bayari, Dr Sadashiva, A J Hospital director Dr Prashanth Marla, Srinivas Medical College Dean Dr Udaykumar and others were also present.
