COVID-19: Social Organisations Provide Food to needy in Udupi

Udupi: Various like-minded people, social organisations and NGOs have come forward to provide food to daily wagers, homeless and other people affected by the lockdown in Udupi district due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

A team of 30 like-minded people led by Social Activist Ansar Ahammed distributed nearly 300 packets of food in the afternoon and evening to the needy people of Padubidri, Kaup and Udupi area.

The Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Students Islamic Organisation of India, Saravajanika Ganeshotosava Samiti Kadiyali and other organisations distributed around 1,000 packets of food to the needy people in the last three days in Udupi district.

Speaking to Mangalorean.com Social Activist Ansar Ahammed said, “We feel that as human beings, it is our responsibility to help the most vulnerable amongst us in their time of need. We appeal to all citizens of Mumbai and Thane to join in our efforts. Many organisations have extended support to our initiative so far. We are planning to distribute food until the lockdown ends,” he said.
