Covid-19 Swab Collection Kiosk for Easy Testing Process Launched at Fr Muller Hospital-Thumbay on Saturday, 5 September at 11.30 am, donated by Dr Kiran Shetty, the Medical Superintendent at Father Muller Hospital-Thumbay, in memory of His Mother Late Mrs Heera B Shetty, wife of Dr Bhasker Shetty. The Neph Plus-1 Protein Specific Analyzer was also launched on the occasion
Mangaluru : The Swab Collection Kiosk has been whelmed by health care personnel and all necessary hygiene and sanitization processes. All you’ll have to do is stand in front of the glass counter from where the medical worker will collect your swab samples. The swab collection process will supposedly only take between three-five minutes and is entirely contact-less. The samples will then be sent to the lab to be tested. The best part of this Kiosk is that the doctors could avoid wearing PPE kit every time and take the thought swap with ease and safety. This concept has been well appreciated by many and has been put to use by the hospital authorities, in many places.
Life is about increasing understanding by expanding our ability to experience new things, new realities and points of view other than familiar to us, because the future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dream. And for that matter, Father Muller Hospital -Thumbay (FMH-T) , a 100-bedded multi-speciality hospital has been rendering remarkable preventive and promotive health care at the door steps of the community with the vision of the Father Muller Institutions motto “HEAL and COMFORT”. Presently, Father Muller Hospital-Thumbay has grown from a general hospital to a multi-speciality hospital with state-of-the-art facilities, during its seven years of existence, as of 1 May 2020. And this unique Covid-19 Swab Collection Kiosk, along with Neph Plus-1 Protien Specific Analyser, launched today, is an added feather to the cap of this growing hospital.
The launching of the Covid-19 Swab Collection Kiosk, and the Neph Plus-1 Protien Specific Analyser was held on Saturday, 5 September 2020 at 11.30 am at the Hospital Casualty department. Following the welcome address by Fr Sylvester Vincent Lobo-the Administrator of FMH-T , the inauguration of the Kiosk and the Analyser was done by Rev Fr Richard Coelho-the Director of Father Muller Charitable Institutions, Mangaluru, along with Fr Sylvester Lobo, Dr Kiran Shetty-the Medical Superintendent of FMH-T, joined by the hospital doctors and staff. The Kiosk and Analyser was blessed by Fr Richard Coelho, after a short prayer service, during which Ophthalmologist Dr Savitha Lobo, while offering prayers expressed gratitude towards the Covid-19 Warriors, who have been working hard and risking their lives treating Covid patients.
Prayers were offered to the sick and the suffering, specially those suffering during this pandemic, who have been instrumentally treated by doctors and other health care fraternity; to the politicians and religious leaders that they may serve the people entrusted to their acre with love and work for the well being of all people, to build a healthy society; for the poor and the needy who are affected due to this Virus; and to all those who have lost jobs and in financial difficulties- asking God to help them during this pandemic- and the gathering replied saying, “Lord, Hear Our Prayer!”.
In his inaugural address, Fr Richard Coelho said, “During this pandemic, It’s understandable when the nation is at war with a deadly invisible enemy — a virus. Humankind is going through a new and unprecedented experience with the rapidly spreading Covid-19 pandemic. There is no doubt that the Covid-19 pandemic has changed the face of human society. The problem does not lie in Covid-19 alone but rather in the fear, panic and terror caused by the spread of this virus, and amplified by the media, which has been presenting the situation as if it were the end of the world. Even though a few media have portrayed negative publicity on our Institution, we are not worried about it- because we know what we are doing is right”. .
Fr Coelho further said, “The post-epidemic stage will see the emergence of a new human being, whose daily behaviour and thinking will differ from what it was before the Covid-19 outbreak. Despite the timely importance of the current safety measures being put into action around the world, there is a great need for these to be integrated into a comprehensive post-pandemic thinking. The Covid-19 storm will pass and mankind will survive, despite the loss of many lives. Humankind will soon live in a world that is very different from the one before the virus. And today, while we are celebrating Teachers Day, we should know that we are not only Teachers but Learners, where we should learn from the students. And also since the Novena has already started to mark the feast of the Nativity of Blessed Virgin Mary, we should seek her blessings since She is Christ’s Intercessor, who can help us overcome this pandemic, so we can go back and live a normal life, like before”.
As a token of love for the kind generosity shown towards FMH-T by sponsoring the Kiosk and also for his untiring efforts in the development of FMH-T, Dr Kiran Shetty was presented with a memento by Fr Richard Coelho, which received a huge applause from the gathering. The vote of thanks was delivered by Ms Nisha Lobo, the Nursing Supervisor, who also compered the programme, and the Bible reading was done by Dr Blany Lobo, from Dept of Homeopathy.
In conclusion, the introduction of the Covid-19 Swab Collection is a good initiative, since it is helpful in cutting expenses, since the technicians won’t come in contact with the person, since they will be seated inside the Unit, and the swab is collected using exterior hand gloves mounted on the vehicle, without using PPE. And the Protein Specific Analyzer will give Quantitative Results, it is convenient and Accurate plus Reliable. A good investment to cut down cost and time.
