COVID-19 Victim’s Body should not be Cremated at Pachanady without the Consent of Locals- MLA Dr Bharat
Mangaluru: The locals of Pacchanady on April 23 opposed to cremating the body of the 75-year-old woman who died of COVID-19 at the Wenlock Hospital.
When the news that the body of the COVID-19 victim would be brought to the Pacchanady crematorium, hundreds of locals gathered at the spot. When MLA of Mangaluru North Constituency Dr Bharat Shetty got the information about the locals opposing the cremation at Pacchanady, he immediately reached the spot.
MLA Dr Bharat said, “I have no information that the body will be cremated at the Pacchanady crematorium. I have already brought this to the notice of the DC. The locals should not worry about it. If the locals are against the cremation of the elderly woman, then the body should not be cremated here”.
MLA Dr Bharat requested the locals to go back home. After getting assurance from the MLA, the locals dispersed from the spot.
