COVID-19: Volunteers to Identify Violators, Apartments should form Purchase Committees – Dr Harsha
Mangaluru: “Three days back, the lockdown was announced in our district, but people are still coming out of their houses. We had requested all to maintain a social distance. Still, people have not taken it seriously, so we requested some NGOs to help us in creating awareness among the people. To avoid many people gathering in one place, we involved some volunteers to create awareness and Ramakrishna Mission has come forward. With their help we will identify the violators and make a documentary”, said Police Commissioner Dr Harsha in a video message on March 25.
Dr Harsha further said, “Many people live in apartments and every flat owner comes out for shopping. The apartment associations should form a purchase committee to buy basic commodities. Instead of every person from every flat going out for shopping, let the purchase committee decided and purchase things depending on everyone’s requirement. Once a vendor is identified, they can go and bring the items for all and distribute them. Thus we can also avoid many vehicles going out for purchasing.”
Dr Harsha also said, “We will create a WhatsApp group and add the committee heads to the group for communication. Let the purchase committee decide the vendor to avoid going out. If we do so, the fear of the virus spreading is minimum. I request all the flat owners to form a purchase committee in their apartments and purchase the necessary essential items to avoid everyone from going out. Stay home and be safe”.
