Cricketer Ravi Shastri Visits Nagabana at Karvalu, Offers Prayers

Karkala: Former Indian cricketer and commentator Ravi Shastri visited Vishnumurthy temple in Karvalu, Yerlappady here on May 22. He performed rituals and offered prayers to Lord Vishnu at the temple.

Ravi Shastri along with his family members visited the Nagabana in Karvalu, Yerlapdy in Karkala Taluk where he offered Puja. The much celebrated former all-rounder paid a visit to Karvalu many years ago along with his wife and offered special Puja to the serpent god and after which, a few months later, the couple conceived their first daughter Alaika.

The couple believed that with the blessings of the serpent god their prayers were answered and since then have been offering Puja here annually.

Ravi Shastri married Ritu Singh in 1990. The couple did not have a child for 18 years. On the advice of the family elders, they visited the ancestral Nagabana in Karvalu. Soon thereafter, they were blessed with a child. Ever since, Ravi has been visiting the place to express his gratitude.
