CS Kolalgiri to Cultivate and Donate Rice to Poor

Udupi: The members of Catholic Sabha (CS), Sacred Heart Church, Kolalgiri will be donating the produce of cultivated paddy to poor families.

Under the leadership of its president Ashwin Roche, CS has planted paddy saplings in 55 cents of land with 60 volunteers of its unit. In a programme organised on Jul, CS organised sports for its members in the paddy field with enthusiasm and spirit and later planted the paddy saplings.

The association spent Rs 10,000 for planting the saplings. CS Treasurer Vincent D’Souza will supervise the paddy filed. Members of the CS will engage in cultivating the crop and the produce will be distributed to the poor families. The grass will be supplied to goshalas.

The Kolalgiri unit of CS will be completing 25 years. It currently has 225 registered members. Facilities like toilets, bus stands, and other works have been initiated by the unit.

Catholic Sabha president of Udupi Diocese Valerian Fernandes, Kallianpur Deanery president Stevan Prakash Lewis, Kolalgiri Parish Pastoral Committee vice-president Naveen Rodrigues, secretary Queenie Mary, Kolalgiri Gram Panchayat president Raju Kulal, owner of the paddy field Vijaydas Shetty and others were present.
