CS Police Accused in Helping Cattle Theft, Attempts Suicide after Sending Message to SP!
Udupi: The Coastal Security Police who was the accused in helping the Cattle traffickers after receiving bribe from them attempted suicide by consuming sleeping pills on July 23.
Santhosh Shetty (37) working in the Udupi Coastal Security Police was arrested on charges of allegedly receiving bribe to facilitate trafficking of cattle to Kerala. He was released on bail recently.
On July 23 afternoon Santhosh Shetty consumed sleeping pills and later informed SP Nisha James through Whatsapp. The SP immediately sent higher officials and got Santhosh Shetty admitted to the Manipal Hospital.
Presently Santhosh Shettty is under treatment at the Manipal hospital and his condition is said to be out of danger.
The shocking incident of the involvement of cops in the illegal transportation of the cattle came to light when the police had stopped a truck carrying cattle near the Sasthan toll gate in Gudmi on July 12.
