D K Shivakumar’s non-cooperation with ED led to his Arrest- Monappa Bhandary

Mangaluru: Former minister D K Shivakumar was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate for his non-cooperation in the investigations of the money laundering case. The Congress party staged protests across the state which led to pelting stones on vehicles and damage to property. In the past, our leaders were also arrested but we did not harm anyone. The ED was collecting all the documents in connection to money laundering by D K Shivakumar from the past two years. Based on the evidence, the ED issued a summons to DKS to present himself before them. During the investigations, DKS did not co-operate well which led to his arrest”, said the BJP leader Monappa Bhandary in a press meet held at the BJP office here on September 5.

Addressing the mediapersons Monappa Bhandary said, “The arrest was not made in a hurry, but was based on the facts and the evidence. The officials of the ED were questioning DKS about the Rs 8 crore which was seized from his flat in Delhi. D K Shivakumar did not cooperate with the ED officials. If D K S would have co-operated well, he would not have been arrested. Congress is now blaming the BJP. Whenever their leaders are arrested or for anything the BJP has been blamed. The Congress staged a protest and damaged buses pelting stones which is condemnable. We demand the police department to take strict action against those indulged in damaging vehicles and causing loss. Those responsible should be made to pay for the loss. We also demand the police department to a file FIR against them”.

Monappa Bhandary further said, “In Karnataka, everyone has the right to fight for their rights. But the Congress has destroyed government property for the arrest of DKS. In Ramanagar they have burnt two KSRTC buses which every citizen of this country should condemn. Last year when D K Shivakumar’s was raided by the IT department, in Mangaluru the Youth Congress leaders protested in front of the IT office. Protesters led by Advocate Vinayraj pelted stones at the IT office and damaged it. Being an advocate they should not have taken the law into their hands. A case should be filed against him making him pay for the loss. We demand the concerned authorities to take strict action against the protesters for damaging government property. In Kinnigoli also protesters pelted stones on parked vehicles.”

Ravishankar MijarSathish Prabhu, Premanand Shetty and Jithendra Kottari were also present.
