Daily wage Labourer Ravi Katapadi helps the poor performing  Vesha during Astami

Udupi: Everyone earns for living and for the well being of their family but a daily wage Labour Ravi Katapdi is earring for a special cause from the last three years Ravi Katapadi who has studied up to class 9, isn’t just a creative man but has a large heart too. Despite earning just Rs 450 to Rs 550 per day as a centring worker, he decided to help 4 children who were suffering from a medical disorder.

He had read in a newspaper about the plight of a woman named Mookambika, whose two-month-old baby girl Anmitha had lost strength in the right hand due to alleged negligence of a doctor at the government hospital during delivery. He decided to help the child and started searching for characters for my costume on the Internet. Finally, he zeroed in on Faun, a creature in Pan’s Labyrinth,” said Ravi. Faun features in the 2006 Mexican-Spanish dark fantasy film written and directed by Guillermo Del Toro.

During the 2015 Shri Krishnashtami Ravi disguised as a Lizardman from the movie Amazing Spiderman, Ravi performed for 20 hours and collected Rs. 3,20,000 which he donated towards the treatment of five children. Ravi handed over the amount in the presence of Annamalai former SP of Udupi. Rs. One lakh two thousand was given to eight-month-old Prateek who was born with foible leg, Rs one lakh six thousand to four year old Akshita Poojary, Rs 52,000 to 9-year-old Avinash from Kilinje village in Havanje, Rs 35,000 to 12 year old Nishita from Indiranagar in Katapady, Rs 10,000 towards the treatment of blood cancer of Sagar from Mudarangady.

After seeing the social work done by Ravi, Annamalai personally donated Rs 10,000 to Ravi and his team last year. This year Ravi will wear costumes of ‘Mummy returns’ and aims to collect Rs 7 lakh and help Grishmitha, a three-and-a-half-year-old girl who is suffering from Thalassemia, Mirza Khalil 6-month-old girl of Udyavar, Krithika four-year-old, Krithik Shankerpura and Grishma three-year-old girl of Moodusagri.

The collected money will be distributed on September 1 afternoon at the SVS PU College Auditorium in the presence of Priyanka Mary Francis CEO Udupi Zilla panchayat.
