Dalai Lama to be in Bengaluru on May 23
Bengaluru: The Dalai Lama will be in Bengaluru on May 23 as key speaker at a seminar on Dr B R Ambedkar. It is organised by the social welfare department.
Making an announcement to this effect on Saturday, Social Weflare Minister H Anjaneya said the seminar on “Social Justice and Dr B R Ambedkar’’ has been organised as part of the 125th birth anniversary of Ambedkar.
The event, to be held at Ambedkar Bhavan, Miller’s Road, is going to inaugurated by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at 10 am.
RECRUITMENTS
The minister, in his interaction with reporters, also said all the 22,308 vacancies in the social welfare department as well as boards and corporations that fall under the department, would be filled up soon.
Anjaneya said the proposed recruitments would not result in removal of those who are now working on contract basis in hostels. The government has made SSLC pass mandatory to become eligible for the D group jobs. Earlier, the minimum qualification required was 7th pass, the minister said.
