DC Dr Jagadeesha Hands over copies of draft electoral roll to Political leaders
Mangaluru: The copies of the draft electoral roll was handed over to the political party leaders and representatives by the Deputy commissioner Dr Jagadeesha at the DC’s office here on October 1.
Addressing the mediapersons Dr Jagadeesha said that the special summary revision of electoral roll has begun in the district and whoever completes 18 years, on or before January 1, 2017, will be eligible to cast their votes. They can log on to ceokarnataka.kar.nic.in and submit their applications for inclusion of their names in the electoral roll.
DC further said that if there are any corrections in the names, address, inclusion or deletion they have one month time to do it. We have rectified 4,24,662 mistakes and corrected the voters names and addresses. There were 696 voters documents which were repeated twice have been removed, 560 photographs which were repeated twice were also removed. We have also removed 5376 names who have persons who are no more and 9849 names of migrant voters have also been removed from the list.
The voters list which was released on October 1 contains 8,03,226 males and 8,20,621 females in the district. For the correction or inclusion of names, voters can submit their forms to the block-level officers or submit applications online. If anyone migrates from one particular place to the other or shifts his/her residence, marriage, death in such cases there is an option to change the address or to remove of names of the voters. The public can make use of the facilities which are provided online.
Dr Jagadeesha also said that if the photograph of the voter is not visible, they can submit their recent coloured photograph to the tahsildar to replace it.
DC Jagadeesha said that the booth-level officers should sit in their respective booths and work on the corrections of the electoral roll for any mistakes. The district administration will supply all the material. The booth-level officers should work on Sunday’s. Today we have given the bundle of responsibility to the representatives of political parties. If there are any objections, request, addition, deletion or corrections, the voters can do so by October 31, 2016, and the final voters list will be announced on January 10, 2017.
