DC Jagadeesh Warns of Legal Action against Obstructing Cremation or Burial of COVID-19 Victims in Dist
Udupi: Acting on the reports of COVID-19 victims being denied the dignity in death in some parts of the district, the Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesh has warned those who oppose conducting the final rites will be booked under the epidemic act.
In a press release deputy commissioner, G Jagadeesh has said that recently COVID-19 deaths have been rising in the district, and in many places people are opposing to perform the final rites in some areas. Everyone has the right to live, and after death, everyone should get dignified and respectful burial or cremation.
The deputy commissioner has given strict instructions to take legal action against those who oppose in performing the last rites of the COVID-19 victims.
Action will be taken as per the guidelines issued by the union government under the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897.
