DC Priyanka Mary instructs to Solve Bus Timings Issue
Udupi: The timings issue between the KSRTC and local bus operators should be solved at the bus depot to avoid further commotion between the bus operators said Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis.
She was speaking at the Regional Transport Authority meeting held at Dr. V.S Acharya Hall here on August 30.
Subramanya Bijoor said that the KSRTC buses have been failing to follow the timings and were not coming to the bus stand. The KSRTC buses are involved in stiff competition which may lead to accidents in the near future. KSRTC officer Jaishanth Kumar said that the bus drivers and conductors are directed to stop the buses at the bus stand and also to follow the timings.
Sanjeev Shetty said that there is a KSRTC bus permit to Madamakki village but the bus service has been terminated. The introduction of the KSRTC buses were proven effective in this route and also it had benefited the students at large.
There are no buses to Moodubelle from Kaup and KSRTC buses should be given the permit to run buses on this route said Shivaji Suvarna.
There is a difference in the fare of private and KSRTC buses. The high court has directed for the collection of similar fare in the KSRTC and private buses.
Suresh Naik, President of the Bus Owners Association said that private buses are in the verge of decline with heavy financial losses and he urged the deputy commissioner to intervene and regulate the timings of KSRTC buses.
Superintendent of Police Dr. Sanjeev Patil said that permit numbers and timings should be placed in the buses for lodging complaints.
As the public meeting was adjourned, the bus operators got involved in a verbal spat with the public, Dr. Patil who intervened warned the private bus operators and asked them to disperse.
