DC Sasikanth Hands Over Cheques to Flood Victims Families

Mangaluru: Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil handed over cheques to two families near the Wenlock Mortuary on May 30.

Due to torrential rain on May 29, there was a lot of damage to property and a couple of lives were lost. The state government has taken this issue seriously and announced immediate compensation.

On May 29, two persons died due to heavy rains. The deceased were Mohini (61) from Udayanagar who was buried under a retaining wall which had collapsed due to the heavy rains and Mukta Bai (80) from Kodialbail.

As soon as the news of the torrential rain affecting the twin districts spread, Chief Minister of Karnataka H D Kumaraswamy took immediate steps and sent an NDRF team to Dakshina Kannada. He also announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the families of Mohini and Mukta Bai.

On May 30, DC Sasikanth Senthil handed over the cheques to the families of the two victims.
