DCD Serves Notice to SP Pharma, Makes them Clear their Mess from Pacchanadi
Mangaluru: Medicines that were expired being dumped on the side of the road near Pacchanadi dumping yard by the distributor was reported on July 24. In this regard, a local had called the Drug Control Department and complained about the negligence of the Distributor on dumping expired medicines in the bushes on the side of the road.
The assistant Drug controller of DCD Shankar Nayak took the matter seriously, he along with the Drug inspector Dhananjay reached the spot. On checking they found that the medicines had expired.
The distributor did not take any measures to dispose of the expired medicines. The inspector after checking the batch number on the packet identified the distributor and informed them to immediately come to the spot and dispose of the medicines safely. The DCD also issued a notice to the distributor for not following the scientific method of disposing of expired medicines.
The Distributor reached the spot and cleared the area of all the disposed of medicines. Later the medicines were seized by DCD.
Shankar Nayak also said that strict action will be taken against those who dump expired medicine in public places. He also urged the people to inform the authorities if they notice medicines being dumped on the roadside of public places.
