DCIB police arrest 10 accused in Padekari Dacoity case

Mangaluru: The DCBI team has arrested 10 persons in connection with the dacoity case in Vishnu Bhat’s house at Perigere Padekari, said SP Bushan Borase in a press meet at his office premises here on November 6.

Addressing the mediapersons SP Borase said, “On October 25, afternoon 12 persons forcibly entered Vishnu Bhat’s house, they tied up Vishnu Bhat’s wife and maid and decamped with gold and silver ornaments. In this connection, a case was registered in the Puttur Rural police station and two teams were formed to nab the culprits”.

Further, the SP said, “There was a rumour of a treasure worth about Rs 4 crore in Vishnu Bhat’s house. Shabari Kumar Naik, who is a neighbour of Vishnu Bhat had informed about the treasure in Vishnu Bhat’s house to Praveen and Suresh Acharya. Praveen and Suresh passed on the news to Pandu Pai, a murder accused, Yashodhar Shetty and his team. On October 25, Yashodhar Shetty prepared a master plan and according to the plan, 12 persons entered Vishnu Bhat’s house. They tied up Vishnu Bhat’s wife and the maid, assaulted them and decamped with gold and silver ornaments”.

The DCIB team gathered all the information about the accused and arrested 10 of them. The arrested have been identified as Krishna Shetty (35), Krishnapura; Milan alias Dhanush (24), Suratkal; Roopesh Kumar alias Roopi (26), Krishnapura Suratkal; Milton Alwyn Pinto (24), Suratkal; Bharat (19) Idya; Rakhi alias Rakesh (19), Soorinje; Ratan alias Ratan (25), Krishnapura; Suresh Acharya (34) Puttur; Praveen Kumar (23), Sullia and Shabhari Kumar Naik (24), Puttur. Yashodhar Shetty alias Yashu (38), Katipalla and Nagesh from Suratkal are absconding.

The police have recovered Rs 50,000 worth gold ornaments, a Xylo car worth Rs 7 lakh, Alto car worth Rs 3.5 Lakh and four mobile phones all worth Rs 11 lakh from their possession.

Under the able guidance of SP Bhushan Borase, Additinal SP Dr Vedamurthy, ASP Rishyanth, the operation was carried out by the Police inspector DCIB Amanulla, Anil S Kulkarni, Police inspector Suratkal Cheluvaraj, PSI Abdul Khader, DCIB staff, ASI Sanjeev Purush, Palanivelu, Iqbal, Laxman, Uday Rai, Taranath, Sathish, Sampath Kumar, Vijay Gowda, Vasu Naik, Chandrashekhar from CCB, Puttur rural police station ASI Rukma Naik, Thimmayya Gowda, H C Chandra, Dinesh, Abdul Rauf and others.
