DCIB Police Raid Gambling Den in Manipal, Arrest 19
Udupi: In two separate incidents the DCIB police busted a gambling den at Manipal and arrested 19 men on Friday. The Police team recovered Rs 1.56 lakhs from the spot, but the person who operated the gambling den is at large.
In the first incident on Friday, July 20 a team led by Kiran C PSI DCIB Udupi received information about the gambling den being run in Room No 212 of Hotel Ashlesh in Herga, Manipal. Police raided the spot in the evening and found 5 men involved in gambling.
The police arrested Jnanesh Shetty of Bammarabettu, Shailesh Sanil from Mumbai, Ambarish from Koppala, Umesh Salian from Eshwaranagara and Bhaskar from Bannanje. The Police recovered items used for gambling and Rs 33,725 cash from the spot.
In the second incident a gambling den was raided where 14 men were involved in gambling.
The police arrested Sudhakar Ameen (43) from Udupi, Jagadeesh (44) from Malpe Baputhota, Sukumar (29) from Halnadu Kundapura, Sujith (33) Maddugudde Kundapura, Shanker (33) Kodvavoor, Shariff (31) from Kodavoor, Harish (32), Sharan (25), Abdul Muneer (28), Saeed Sheik (29), Rakesh Devadiga (31), Ramesh (41), Santhosh (33) and Yogish (29). The Police recovered items used for gambling, 12 mobile phones and Rs 1,22,425/- cash from the spot.
Two separate cases have been registered in the Manipal Police Station.
