DDA allotted land for Ravidas Temple after CM’s persistence: Bharti

New Delhi: After the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) allotted land for rebuilding the Ravidas Temple in South-East Delhi’s Tughlaqabad area, senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Somnath Bharti said on Friday that the same was possible only after the persistence of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

“After the persistence of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, the DDA today allotted land to rebuild the Ravidas Temple in Tughlaqabad area and also changed its land use,” said Bharti.

He also said that Kejriwal was the first leader to say that the site must be restored because it is a question of faith.

He said the Delhi legislative assembly raised this issue and passed the resolution, as it was the question of the dignity and honour of the Dalit community.

“I have come here to share the happy news with you. You might remember that on August 10, 2019, a historic temple of Sant Guru Ravidas Ji in Tughlaqabad was demolished by the DDA after the mismanagement and mishandling of the sensitive issue related to the temple. There was chaos after it was demolished, especially in the northern states of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

“The number of followers of Sant Ravidas Ji is huge and is spread across not only India, but the whole world. The sermons of one humanity were negated when the temple was demolished. Kejriwal was the first leader to say that the site must be restored because it is a question of faith.”
