Dead Body missing news on News Portal – Dr Padmaraj Hegde Issues Clarification
Udupi: Dr Padmaraj Hegde professor, Department of Urology of KMC Hospital Manipal issued a clarification about the news of a patient’s dead body missing which was published on a news website on August 24.
In his clarification, Dr Padmaraj Hegde has stated, “Mr K Balakrishna Shetty, my uncle was taken care of by me during his illness. On August 23 at 5:00 pm, I received a call from his caretaker that my uncle was finding it difficult to breath. Immediately I rushed an ambulance from KMC and got him admitted in the emergency ward. The patient was intubated on arrival, and I enquired with the treating physician who informed that his condition was critical. At midnight I received a call that he was COVID-19 positive. Unfortunately, we lost him at 5:00 am this morning.
At 11 am, I received a call from the district health officer and informed them to follow the COVID-19 protocol for cremation.
In the evening, Preetesh Shetty called me, and with a harsh and abusive tone, asked me why I gave consent to the district officials to cremate the body without consulting him. I had no information about this person and his relation to my uncle. The allegation that the hospital has charged about Rs 3 lakh is totally false, adding to it, the bill had been partially cleared by the insurance company. The hospital has followed all the government guidelines in this case, and no one else came to the hospital other than me”.
Meanwhile, Udupi Deputy commissioner G Jagadesh has also clarified that the news which is published on the website is far from the truth. Those who were publishing such false news and creating panic among the people will be booked under the epidemic act.
This Clarification of Dr Padmarajan that none of the relatives were present except him in the hospital is VERY MUCH FALSE as 2 of Brothers Shri Balakrishna shetty , who are themselves senior citizens 72 ,76 aged were in very much in hospital with Preetesh from 6:00 am itself waiting for the after death formalities to receive the body.
It is a clear attempt of Dr Padmarajan to coverup the wrong done by him which cannot be reversed .
