In the complaint, it is mentioned that, On June 6, at around 7:30 pm, Shruthi Suvarna, a 24-year-old pregnant woman was admitted to the Gandhi Hospital for delivery and gynecologist Dr Chayalatha examined her and shifted her to the ICU. On June 7, at around 1:30 am when Shruthi developed labour pains, Dr Chayalatha performed C-section on Shruthi. After the C-section, Dr Chayalatha informed the family members that Shruthi and the baby are in good health.
On June 7, at around 3:00 am Dr Chayalatha asked Shruthi’s mother, Geetha Poojary to arrange for blood as Shruthi needed blood. But when her condition deteriorated, Dr Chayalatha informed the family members to shift Shruthi to Manipal hospital for further treatment. Shruthi was shifted to Manipal Hospital by ambulance where she breathed her last at 7:30 am.
Geetha Poojary has alleged that the negligence of the doctor led to the death of her daughter. The Udupi town police have filed a complaint under IPC Section 134 – 152/16 and investigation is on.
