Death Sentence to Accused in Pregnant Woman’s Rape and Murder Case
Kundapur: The Kundapur additional Sessions court announced the death sentence to the accused Prashanth Mogaveera who had raped and murdered a pregnant woman three years ago at Gopadi in Kundapur Taluk.
Kundapur additional Sessions court judge Prakash Khanderi on February 20, pronounced the death sentence to Prashanth Mogaveera along with a jail term of 25 years.
On April 11, 2015 Prashanth, had arrived at a house in Moodugopadi asking for drinking water. When the resident of the house, a pregnant woman opened the door, he allegedly raped her.
The pregnant woman Indira was then murdered by him using a boulder. He then fled from the spot after robbing her necklace. However, he was nabbed by the Kundapur police, who saw him running with blood soaked clothes.
The court had rejected his bail and after three years, the court has finally declared him guilty on February 14, after all the allegations against him were proved.
Special government prosecutor Ravikiran Murdeshwar argued the case.
