Deepak Murder, DC Gives permission for Funeral Procession

Mangaluru: The villagers and the BJP leaders received the body of Deepak Rao who was brutally murdered on January 3 at Katiipalla after the intervention of DC Sasikanth Senthil on January 4.

A relative of Deepak Rao questioned the police, “How can the police bring the body to our house without our knowledge? There are a number of people who want to bring his body for the final rights. Deepak has many well-wishers to help his family members in their time of need. We will not accept the body from the police.”

BJP leaders and party workers gathered at Katipalla and gheraoed the ambulance. They did not allow the police to hand over the body to the family members. The ambulance that had taken the body to the house did not have Air Condition. The protesters demanded the body to be shifted to another ambulance with AC which was done later.

The protesters also demanded the Home Minister to visit the spot and assure them of providing safety to the lives of Hindu activists. From three hours now the ambulance containing the body is parked at the house with the protesters and family not ready to receive the body.

DC Sasikanth Senthil convinced the family members to accept the body. Later the BJP leaders received the body and handed it over to Deepak’s family members. DC Sasikanth Senthil has given permission to hold the procession from the house to the crematorium.

We need to give respect to the deceased person and his family members The family members need financial help, I will write to the government to provide compensation. We will provide whatever help the family needs. Already the government has sanctioned Rs 10 lakh. I will speak to the CM to provide Rs 5 lakh from the CM’s fund. At present, I have sanctioned Rs 5 lakh from District administration fund”.

The protesters have demanded more compensation for the family and the DC assured of writing to the government in this regard.
