Cows and Hindu Activists Killed alike – Puranik during Rasta Roko

Mangaluru: The members and leaders of the BJP staged a protest in connection with the murder of Bajrang Dal activist Deepak Rao at the Besant circle with Rasta Roko here on January 5.

On January 5, the BJP leaders and members staged a protest and blocked the Besant circle raising slogans against the state government and demanding the resignation of District minister in-charge Ramanath Rai and Minister U T Khader. The Pandeshwar, Kadri and Bundar police arrested all the protesters including the BJP and Sangh Parivar leaders.

Addressing the protesters VHP state President Prof M B Puranik said, “In DK from four years many untoward incidents have taken place and many Hindu activists have been murdered. Behind all these murders, the Muslims organizations are directly responsible and the state government is indirectly supporting them. We very well know that if we block the roads and stage protests the common man will suffer. But today Hindus have no safety and we need to get down to the streets to demand safety.”

Puranik further said, “In Dakshina Kannada cows and Hindu activists have been treated alike and brutally killed. All Muslim organizations should be banned. The Chief Minister is pleasing the Muslim community for vote bank. In the next elections, they want to come to power so they have maintained silence whenever Hindu activists have been murdered by Muslim organizations. Deepak Rao was innocent and he was the only breadwinner of his family. Our heart goes out to his family, we are ready to help them. We are in great pain and tears, we will try to stop such incidents from occurring in our district.”

BJP leader Monappa Bhandary said, “From past four years many Hindu activists have been murdered and the state government has not taken any measures to stop it. In our district, two ministers are supporting Muslim organizations. Today whatever is happening in the district Minister Ramanath Rai and Minister U T Khader are directly responsible. They should immediately resign.”

Monappa Bhandary further said, “Deepak was killed by a Muslim group in a minor banner issue. If a person is killed for a silly matter, what is the law and order situation in the state? Drug Mafia is rampant in the district. Women cannot walk on the road freely, Hindu activists are being murdered frequently which shows that the law and order situation in the district has totally collapsed.”

Monappa Bhandary also alleged, “Deepak Rao who was the sole breadwinner of the family was brutally murdered but being a district minister in-charge, Ramanath Rai did not even come to see his body. Why do we need such a minister? He should resign immediately.”
