Defamatory Messages against Doctors Circulated on WhatsApp, KMC Files Complaint
Mangaluru: The Management of KMC Hospitals approached the Police Commissioner and submitted a memorandum to take action against those spreading defamatory messages about KMC hospitals and its doctors on November 29.
Regional Chief Operating Officer KMC Hospitals Saghir Siddiqui along with Dr Narasimha Pai, Dr M N Bhat, Assistant General Manager Surendra and deputy Manager Marketing Rakesh Darshan met the Police commissioner Dr Harsha and briefed him about the messages being circulated in various WhatsApp groups defaming the doctors and the hospital.
They also handed over a copy of the complaint to the police commissioner saying that the information about Dr Narasimha Pai, Dr M N Bhat, Dr R L Kamath alleging that they are involved in fraud/daylight robbery in extracting money from the patients. The information which is being circulated is far from the truth and grossly offensive. The messages are being circulated to intentionally defame the doctors and the hospital. The messages are being circulated with a purpose to deceive or mislead the people and the public at large. The unknown persons being aware that this kind of action would bring bad name, disrepute to the hospital and doctors have intentionally circulated and perhaps continue to circulate such false information on Whatsapp.
After receiving the memorandum, Police commissioner Harsha assured to take action against those circulating defamatory messages through WhatsApp to defame the doctors at KMC hospitals.
The KMC authorities would like to inform the public that there is no truth in those messages and a complaint has been filed with the Cyber Crime and the commissioner of Police. The matter is currently being investigated and legal action will be taken with regard to the defamatory messages being circulated.
