Demonetization of Notes, Ache Din only for Adani and Ambani – Congress
Mangaluru: The District Congress Committee staged a protest in front of the DC office here on November 24 against the Union Government led by Narendra Modi for the demonetization of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes and putting the poor people in distress.
Addressing the protesters, the interim president of DK district Congress committee Ibrahim Kodijal said, “The Union government led by Prime minister Modi has given a big shock by demonetization of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes. On November 8, at 8:00 pm, PM Modi had announced the demonetization of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes from 12 Midnight. Modi is using his own TV Channels and announcing that 90% of the people of the country has welcomed the move of demonetization but in reality, 95% of the people of this country are against the sudden demonetization”.
Before coming to power Modi said, “Ache Din will come to India but Ache din only for Ambani, Adani and the corporate companies but for the poor and the farmers it is Bhure din. In the coming election, people will give you befitting reply. Congress government is trying to unite people but Modi government is trying to spoil the harmony in the country by snatching the religious rights of the people in the name of Uniform civil code. Modi government put the poor people in trouble, it is the duty of the people to fight against Modi government”.
AICC member P V Mohan said, “We now have new currency and the Ashoka Chakra is missing on it, but there is Modi’s Mann ki Baat on it. Modi has brought financial emergency in the country. Modi said corruption should be eliminated, black money should be brought back to the country which is good move and Congress will support it. But on November 8, Modi demonetized the currency notes putting the poor people into severe problems. 53% of the assets are with Ambani and Adani, Modi should answer who has the black money? 70 people have died while they were standing in the queue to withdraw their hard earned money. We need to pay tribute to those who died after the demonetization of the currency. Why is Modi snatching the hard earned money of the poor? Not a single rich person is found standing in the queue, but the poor people suffer because of demonetization. On November 28, we will call for a Bharat Bandh”.
A one-minute silence was observed to the souls of those who had died while standing in the queue to withdraw their hard earned money.
Addressing the protesters President of District Youth Congress Mithun Rai said, “In the State Bank area, most of the people are victims of demonetization. After the demonetization, more than 700 people are standing in a queue to withdraw money everyday. The BJP people have not come to help those who are standing in the queue but the congress party workers have helped the people. When the Rs 500 and 1000 currency notes were demonetized on November 8, from 12-midnight people felt happy but the very next day the poor people started to stand in the queue. The demonetization of notes has helped only the rich. When the UPA government had thought of demonetizing the currency, the BJP spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi opposed the move. Meenakshi Lekhi has black money but today where is Meenakshi Lekhi when the BJP government has demonetized the currency? After demonetization of notes, the prime minister should have monitored the situation, but the Prime minister toured Japan and enjoyed there while the poor were suffering here.
Mithun also stressed, “Modi said, after demonetization of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes, many thieves will come and stand in the queue in front of the banks to remit the unaccounted money. But now the daily wage labourer and poor are standing in the queue to withdraw their hard earned money. Are they thieves? After demonetizing, PM Modi made his mother stand in the queue, is she a thief? Modi will do anything for political gain. Why isn’t Modi’s mother standing in the queue now? Modi is indirectly supporting terrorism because now fake notes of Rs 2000, Rs 100 and Rs 50 are coming out to the market”.
Mithun also said, “Narendra Modi says, from the past 6 months we have given permission to the RBI to print the Two thousand Rupee notes. But two months ago Urjith Patil was appointed as the RBI governor. How is Urjith Patil’s signature printed on the Two thousand Rupee note? Questioned Mithun.
Mayor Harinath, Sashidhar Hegde, Padmanabha Naringana, Vishwas Das, Mithun Rai, Mamatha Gatti, Shalet Pinto, Balakrishna Shetty, Abbas Ali and others were also present.
