Dept of Public Health, Yenepoya Deemed to be University holds National Workshop on Data Analysis and Spatial Epidemiology
Mangaluru: The Department of Public Health, Yenepoya Deemed to be University (DU) in association with Edward & Cynthia Institute of Public Health organized a three-day National Workshop on “Data Analysis and Spatial Epidemiology Using R” recently. The workshop was designed as an intensive hands-on training program aimed at equipping health professionals with advanced skills in data analysis, spatial epidemiology, and statistical methods using R software, a leading tool in health data analytics.
The event was inaugurated by Dr. Sunita Saldanha, Dean, Yenepoya School of Allied Health Sciences, Yenepoya Deemed to be University. The key resource person for the workshop was Prof. Biju Soman, Professor and Head, Achutha Menon Centre for Health Science Studies, SCTIMST, Trivandrum. The other resource persons for the workshop were Dr. Rehna Ramla Mohamed, Junior Health Economist, Health Technology Assessment (HTA) Resource Hub, SCTIMST, Trivandrum, and Arun Jose, PhD Scholar.
Dr. Ujjwala Gupta, Assistant Professor, Dept of Public Health, Yenepoya DU was the Organizing Chairperson. Dr. Edmond Fernandes, Chief Coordinator & Assistant Professor, Dept of Public Health, Yenepoya DU, and Mr. Amrut R. H, Program Coordinator, Dept of Public Health, Yenepoya DU were also present.
The workshop was a restricted group of 37 delegates who participated from across the country & a few international delegates and comprised diverse backgrounds of public health, data scientists, medical doctors, and others. Various topics around data science fundamentals, spatial epidemiology, data visualization, and advanced statistical analysis were discussed and analysed using R Software.
