Despite CM BSY’s orders, Malls functioning in Udupi
Udupi: Despite the orders of chief minister B S Yeddiyurappa the malls in Udupi on March 14 are operating as usual.
Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddiyurappa on Friday, March 13 had ordered all malls, theatres and pubs to be shut for a week from March 14 following the death of a man due to COVID-19 as well as the rise in positive cases, which stood at six.
When mangalorean.com contacted the Shopping Mall authorities, they said that we have not received any official order from the head office or the district administration. If we get any official order to close the Shopping Mall then we will follow it.
When the deputy commissioner G Jagadeesh was contacted on this regard, he said, “On March 13, the chief minister had announced to close all the malls, theatres and pubs across the state. Those who have opened the malls should obey the state government order. I will instruct the CMC commissioner to look in to this matter”.
“In wake of the corona virus outbreak, I am ordering the closure of malls, theatres and pubs for a week from March 14,” said Yediyurappa after a meeting on March 13.
The state government has requested the organizers to cancel social gatherings and marriage functions fearing the spread of the deadly virus.
Late on Thursday night, Karnataka Health Minister B Sriramulu confirmed that a 76-year-old man from Kalaburgi in the state’s northern region died due to the corona virus.
This virus outbreak is going to bring about a few changes soon – 1. People’s health and hygiene standards are drastically going to improve.
