Despite Code of Conduct Udupi Dist Celebrates Kannada Rajyotsava with Cultural Extravaganza
Udupi: The Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations marked the grandeur of cultural extravaganza at the Mahatma Gandhi Stadium Beedinagudde here on Thursday, November 1.
Due to the model code of conduct in force for the bye-elections for Byndoor-Shivamogga Lok Sabha constituency, the Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis hoisted the flag and received the guard of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner called upon the people to promote and preserve the Kannada language.
Nearly 13 teams took part in the parade. Raghavendra R of the district armed reserve police led the march past. Colourful cultural dances were performed by various school children.
The district level Rajyotsava award ceremony has been postponed due to the Lok Sabha and Assembly bye-elections. The award ceremony will be held after the code of conduct ends.
Laxman B Nimbaragi Superintendent of Police Udupi District, Shree Vidya Additional DC, Kumarchandra Additional SP, Shivananda Kapashi CEO Udupi Zilla Panchayat, Neelavara Surendra Adiga president District Kannada Sahitya Parishat were present on the occasion.
