Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to Attend Inauguration of Newly Constructed Lady Goschen Hospital
Mangaluru: “The newly constructed Lady Goschen hospital will be inaugurated within two months. Ninety percent of the construction work has been completed. Under the Corporate social responsibility, MRPL and ONGC companies have funded Rs 21.70 crores in the construction of Lady Goschen Hospital. ONGC has funded Rs 12.78 crores and MRPL Rs 8.92 crores for the construction of the hospital. This is the first government hospital which is constructed under CSR funds. Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has consented to be present for the inaugural ceremony”, said MP Nalin Kumar Kateel in a press meet held at the Lady Goschen premises here on September 11.
Addressing the mediapersons MP Nalin said, “Five years ago, former MLA Yogish Bhat had shown special interest to renovate the hospital. Veerappa Moily took the initiative and approached the MRPL and ONGC companies. So far Rs 16.25 has been spent for the work completed. The fifth and sixth-floor work is pending and it will be completed soon. The hospital authorities have decided to use the old equipment, beds and furniture for the newly completed hospital but we have requested the MRPL authorities to provide funds to buy new equipment, furniture and beds for the patients. As per our request, MRPL has sanctioned Rs 1.5 crore to purchase new furniture and other necessary equipment.”
MP Nalin also said, “Due to the delay in the sanction of funds the work was delayed, now we have requested to speed up the work and work is near completion. The MRPL is also helping to upgrade schools and also construct toilets in rural areas”.
Addressing the mediapersons managing director of MRPL, H Kumar said that the Deputy Commissioner Dr Jagadeesha has taken a special interest in completing the construction work of Lady Goschen Hospital as soon as possible. MP Nalin Kumar Kateel has also taken special interest and has requested to sanction funds for the purchase of new beds, furniture and equipment for the newly constructed hospital. As per his request, we have sanctioned Rs 1.5 crore. I Hope the construction work will complete soon.”
