Differences in Kundapur BJP Ticket Issue, Decision left to High command – Halady

Udupi: “The BJP high command has chosen me as the official candidate of Kundapur Assembly constituency and announced the ticket in the first list. Some of the party leaders have opposed my selection as the candidate. I do not have anything to say in this regard, I have left the decision to the party high command. The Party High command, the BJP state president and others will solve the issue. I am now concentrating only in the elections and have all the confidence of winning”, said former Kundapur MLA and BJP candidate Halady Srinivas Shetty. He was speaking to media persons in Manipal on April 12.

Addressing the media persons Halady said “Confusion during the election is common in every party, I will meet the rebel leaders opposing me as the candidate and ask their support in the assembly elections. I will take everyone in to confidence and contest the elections. Kishore Kumar and his team have tendered their resignation only to their posts and have not left the party so I hope that they will support me. Once the party announces the official candidate every worker of the party should work for the official candidate”, he said.

Halady further said, “Kishore Kumar and his team should campaign for me, it is my sincere request. If they remain neutral then we will face some problems. In the last assembly elections where the BJP candidate had contested against me but I had won the elections with the highest margin. This time too the party workers and voters will bless me for another term”.

Speaking about Senior BJP leader Kodgi’s statement on giving the ticket to Halady, he said “I don’t want to comment about A G Kodgi’s statement, he is a senior leader in the party. Today I visited his house and informed him that I am contesting the elections and sought his blessings. Differences are common in every party there is no need to spoil our head for silly issues”, he said.
