Dirty Politics of Congress main cause for Communal Violence in District – MP Nalin

Mangaluru: “From the past one-and-half year a fearful situation has been created in Dakshina Kannada District. Murders in the district starting from Jalil has continued to Sharath and the government is not able to maintain the law and order situation. I thought that when the CM was in Mangaluru he would do justice to the people of the district without any discrimination but nothing was done. It is the duty of the government and the district administration to provide safety and security to the people and the opposition supports it. We have a terrorist government in the state, the government is filing cases against those who protest instead of arresting those who are behind the murders. When there were communal disturbances, why did the district minister in-charge not call for a review meeting,” said MP Nalin Kumar Kateel in a press meet held at the BJP office here on July 12.

Addressing the mediapersons Nalin said, “In the district, there are a number of murder cases which have still not been properly investigated and the culprits arrested. The Panjimogeru double murder case, Uppinangady teacher murder case the murderers have still not been arrested. A number of murders took place in the Ullal and Bantwal constituencies, attempt to murder cases have also taken place. In Ullal Sandeep, Sathish, Pradeep Ullal, Hemanath Amblamogeru, Abhishek, Tukaram Garodi, Pavan were attacked, Taranath house was set on fire, Ratnakar attempt to murder case, Prashanth murder case etc. and those behind the crimes have not been arrested so far. The police department has failed to arrest those responsible since the department acts as a puppet of the government”.

MP Nalin further said, “The District Minister Rai and Khader are not allowing the police to arrest the criminals. When our government was in power there was no communal violence. Because of the failure in arresting the criminals, there is continuous violence in the district. When we were in power we did not interfere in the operations of the police department, we had given a free hand to the police to arrest the criminals. The interference of the Congress government in the operations of the police department is the cause of all the violence in the district. The district minister in-charge Rai and minister Khader should resign immediately or they should see that all those involved in murders and violence be arrested. The government should treat everyone equally and take action against all those who are involved in the crime.”

Nalin Kumar also said, “On July 7 the Chief Minister was in Mangaluru but he did not visit the hospital to see Sharath. He did not even discuss with any of the police officers or the District administration or call for a peace meeting. The chief minister must not consider any caste, creed and religion in these matters. The District Minister In-charge had insulted a police officer in front of the party workers which has led to an increase in crime. Recently the IGP ordered to open fire. But the IGP forgot that the police department is to protect the people and not to open fire on them. It is the duty of the police department to protect the people”, Said Nalin.

“Dirty politics of the Congress Party to retain the vote bank is directly responsible for all the communal violence. From the past three years, SDPI and KFD are trying to contest the elections and Rai is afraid that the votes of the Muslims will be divided and the Congress will lose. Rai is pleasing the Muslims for vote bank. When we protested in Bantwal, cases were filed against the protesters including me. In Sharath’s final journey hundreds of people had gathered to pay their last respect. There was stone pelting reported but the police filed cases against the Hindu leaders. If any Hindu leader is arrested and any untoward incidents take place in the district, the government and the District Minister In-charge will be directly responsible,” Nalin warned.

Nalin also said, “I congratulate the police department for arresting the accused in the Ashraf murder case but why have they not arrested those behind Sharath’s murder? he questioned. The government is not allowing the police to take action against those criminals. If the district police cannot arrest those responsible, let they hand over the case to the CBI. The NIA should be involved in the investigation of all the murder cases in the district. The CM is afraid to hand over the murder cases to the NIA because he is afraid that the Congress leaders will be exposed.”

“We will not attend any peace meeting organised by the district minister-in-charge at the DC office until those responsible for the murder of Sharath are arrested,” said Nalin.

District BJP president Sanjeev Matandoor, Sulochana Bhat, Krishna J Palemar, Yogish Bhat, Monappa Bhandary, Sudarshan Moodbidri, Kishore Rai, Sanjay Prabhu, Vedavyas Kamath and Puja Pai were also present.
