Dist Admin and Compol Should not Give Permission for Amit Shah’s Visit to Mangaluru – DCC

Mangaluru: “In the district, the law and order situation has not yet normalised. After independence in 1947, this is the first time one crore people in one thousand places protested against the CAA and NRC which was implemented by the Central government. If the central Home Minister Amit Shah will come to the district, there are chances for violence. In this regard Amit Shah should not come to Mangaluru on January 19, he can come some other time. The district administration should not give permission for Amit Shah to visit Mangaluru on January 19. If he comes to Mangaluru I will initiate “Go Back Amit Shah” agitation, said MLC Ivan D’Souza in a press meet held at the DCC office, Mallikatta here on January 6.

Addressing the mediapersons Ivan D’SOuza said, “The Congress party requests the Police commissioner and the district administration not to give permission for Amit Shah to visit Mangaluru. Already, people all over the country have started to agitate against the NRC and CAA. Last week in a day, in one thousand places, more that one crore people protested against the bills. But Amit Shah and Modi are acting as nothing has happened in the country. BJP is a drama company and we don’t need a drama in Mangaluru”.

Ivan D’SOuza further said, “Prime Minister Modi and Amit Shah are saying that people will not be affected by NRC and CAA. But on the other hand, the Muslim community has been targetted. The BJP workers are visiting houses and shops of Muslims to explain and convince them about NRC and CAA which is condemnable. For the welfare of the citizens of this country, NRC and CAA should be withdrawn”.

Addressing the mediapersons DCC President Harish Kumar said, “The Central government led by Modi is all set to give citizenship to the minorities from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan. Why is the same government hesitant to give citizenship to the Srilankan Hindus? Because of the NRC and CAA 60% of the people of this country will be affected. We should not think that NRC and CAA will affect only Muslims. In 6 years the NDA government has given citizenship to 18000 people but when UPA was in power in 10 years we have given citizenship to 80,000 people. Those who want citizenship they will provide the necessary documents. But being born and living in India why should we Indians submit our documents now?”

Congress leaders Neeraj Pal, former deputy mayor Mohammed Kunjathbail, Eshwar Bhat and Nazir Bajal were also present.

Why is Amit Shah visiting Mangalore? The crisis in JNU deserves his full attention. The Delhi police report to Amit Shah. It his responsibility to discipline Delhi police for the police inaction to JNU violence.
