Dist Coast Guard HQ celebrated ‘National Integration Day’ with ‘Run for Unity’& Tree Plantation
Mangaluru: District Coast Guard District (Karnataka) Head Quarters based at Panambur, Mangaluru celebrated the 144th birth anniversary of Sardar Valabhbhai Patel on 31 Oct 2019 as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas with a ‘Run for Unity’ along with Tree Plantation and pledge across all Coast Guard units in the state of Karnataka.
Lal Goel, Chairman of Organ Donation India Foundation flagged-off the “Run for Unity”. Dr. CP Habeeb Rahman, Chairman, Unity Group of Institutions, Dr. Yusuf Kumble, Managing Director, Indiana Hospital & Heart Institute, Rtn C H Abdul Gafoor, President Rotary Club Moodbidri and Laxman Kundar, Chairman & Managing Director V4News dignitaries also graced the occasion. The event was co-ordinated by Dy Comdt Deepika Dhiman and in her welcome speech she laid the emphasis on importance of celebrations of National Unity Day.
She added every year birth anniversary of Sardar Patel helps to awaken the inherent strength of youth the nation which provides an opportunity to maintain the integral power of the nation to withstand the actual and potential threats to the unity and integrity of our country. Rashtriya Ekta Diwas pledge was administered to all the enthusiastic participants by Dy Comdt Rajkumar and the route for Run for Unity was introduced to participants by Dy Comdt Rajeev Kumar.
Lal Goel while addressing the gathering said that Sardar Patel played a crucial role not only during the freedom Struggle of India but also in the post-Independent political consolidation of India as he was instrumental in the integration of over 500 princely states into the Indian Union. DIG SS Dasila, TM, Commander, Coast Guard Karnataka, in his welcome speech highlighted the struggles and achievements of Sardar Patel and lauded his contribution to the freedom struggle and India’s integration.
Remembering, former PM of India, Smt Indira Gandhi on her 35th death anniversary, Dasila echoed her famous quote “Even if I died in the service of the nation, I would be proud of it. Every drop of my blood… will contribute to the growth of this nation and to make it strong and dynamic.” Acharya Narendra Deva a great educationist, scholar, thinker and great exponent Indian culture who advocated “to create a new civilization which will be rooted in ancient civilization, which will have the colors of the country, which will keep the excellent elements of the ancient civilization safe to present a new ideal before the world” also remembered on his birth anniversary.
