Dist Cong SC unit demands resignation of Ananth Kumar Hegde
Udupi: The Udupi district Congress SC Unit on Wednesday, December 27, demanded the resignation of Union Minister of State for Employment and Skill Development Ananth Kumar Hegde. If Hegde fails to resign they demanded Prime Minister Modi to sack him for his ‘anti-constitutional’ statement.
In a protest staged by the Udupi District Congress SC Unit near the War Memorial at Ajjarkad, District Congress secretary Janardhan Bhandarkar said that there is no space for such thinking in Hindu religion and Hegde is defaming the religion. We will not tolerate the insult of B R Ambedkar. Hegde should either apologise or Prime Minister Narendra Modi should take a call on whether such a person should continue as a minister, he added.
Further, Bhandarkar said that the members of BJP are spreading fake Hindutva in the state. People like Ananth Kumar Hegde, Shobha Karandlaje and others are playing with the sentiments of the people. The BJP leaders were playing politics over dead bodies. When Condemning the rape and murder of a girl Danamma in Vijayapura, Bhandarkar said that the silence of the BJP in the murder of Danamma raises several questions. He alleged that the BJP with its communal mindset is not protesting against the murder of the Dalit girl because the culprits who are arrested in the case are workers of the BJP.
District Congress president Janardhan Tonse, vice president Prakyath Shetty, Udupi CMC president Meenakshi Madhava Bannanje, Congress leaders Chandrika Shetty, Sandhya Thilakraj, Yathish Karkera, Ramesh Kanchan, Ganesh Nergi, Narayana Kundar, Amrith Shenoy and others were present.
