District Administration Observes ‘Yoga Day for World Peace’
Mangaluru: The International Yoga Day was observed by the district administration at the Indoor Tennis Court, Mangala Stadium here on June 21.
The Yoga day was inaugurated by the MLC, Capt Ganesh Karnik by lighting the traditional lamp along with other dignitaries.
Speaking on the occasion Capt Ganesh said, “In Mangaluru the Yoga programme is going on successfully. Under the theme of ‘Yoga for world peace’, we have organised this day for global peace. To let the world know about Yoga and its benefits, our Prime minister has toured many countries. Let all inculcate the habit of Yoga in their day-to-day life. It is a good activity and the district administration has organized this programme for the benefit of all.
When asked about political leaders as well as the district minister in-charge being absent for the programme, Karnik said, “Minister Ramanath Rai is practising Yoga every day for 2 hours. Maybe the political pressure has kept them away from the Yoga. There are many reasons, maybe they have attended the programme somewhere else but as per my knowledge, Rai is practising Yoga every day”.
Speaking on the occasion Deputy commissioner A B Ibrahim said that we need Yoga every day in our life to overcome our stressful life. There are no expenses to practice Yoga, you can practise yoga anywhere anytime. Yoga will keep your mind and body fit. We need to keep the religion out of this and practise Yoga.
Police commissioner Chandra Sekhar said that Yoga is a physical and mental activity. You will get physical fitness and mental peace from Yoga. It is our pride that Yoga has been recognised internationally. We should practise Yoga to keep ourselves physically and mentally fit. Today all are observing Yoga day internationally. We have to encourage Yoga and ensure that we all practise Yoga and get the benefits of it.
DCP Law and Order Shantharaju said that Yoga is very good to improve our physical health and relieve from mental stress. To be physically fit one should practise Yoga.
Yoga Guru Gopalakrishna Delampady led the Yoga session. SP Bhushan Gulabrao Borase, ADC Kumar, ZP CEO Sreevidya, MCC Commissioner Dr Gopalakrishna, ZP President Meenakshi Shanthigodu, vice President Kasturi Panja and other dignitaries were also present.
Kudos to Mr.Ibrahim for attending. Unfortunately minority community leaders and Congress politicians are totally missing. Why so much of anti-sanaarhana feelings ? Only imaginary god knows.
