District Administration Releases Creative Posters with Message for Voters

Udupi: In an attempt to increase the polling percentage in the Assembly elections, the district administration has launched a poster campaign to educate people on their right to vote.

Deputy commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis after releasing the voting Awareness Posters at the DC Office on Monday, April 9 said that various steps have been taken to make people exercise their franchise.

The district administration has been initiating several activities like the motorcycle and bicycle rallies, signature campaign, human chains etc to achieve cent percent voting.

As a part of the initiative, authorities have printed posters carrying local people of various professions like farmers, cashew industry workers, fisher women, Dalit colony families, senior citizens etc. with the message urging voters to cast their franchise in the coming polls on May 12.

The posters will be displayed in the City, Service and KSRTC Buses, Taluk, Gram Panchayat walls, public places like bus stands, schools etc. The SVEEP committee will also publish posters in Social media like the WhatsApp, Facebook and Twitter.

Some of the slogans in the posters are “Varusha Nooru, Mathadanada Sambhrama Joru”, Indu Nanna Matadana, Munde Ninna Mathadana” “Yentha Kelasa idru Vote Hakuvudanna Mareyabeda”. “Vote Padere Undu Bega Poyi” “Ondagihevu Naavu Mathadanakkagi… Hosa Nadigagi…Jotheyagi” “Sagutthiddeve Mathadanakke Naavu.. Neevu Banni Jotheyagi” etc.

Moreover, personal appeal letters in the name of the District Election Officer, Udupi, have been issued to all the households.

With the model code of conduct coming into force, several measures are being put in place to ensure that it is not violated by political parties, candidates, bureaucrats and the media as well. Assembly elections are to be held soon and the Election Commission has started booking cases against violators of the model code of conduct (MCC).

As much as Rs 5,87,700 in cash has been sized, 10 FIR’s and 10 excise cases have been registered for violation of the model code of conduct.
